Nov 2:
  • A revised version of Homework #2 has been posted that includes thechanges that have been discussed on the listserv. The changes from theoriginal version are highlighed in the revised version.
Oct 31:
  • Homework #2 has been corrected so that question #8 indicates that you should redo #7 with the modified p and p_leaf values.
  • The notes page for class on Oct. 30 has been linked to in the calendar entry for Oct. 30.
Oct 29:
  • Homework #2 has been posted on the Assignments page and is due Wednesday, November 8 at 5:00pm. There will be one additional homework assignment this semester, assignment and due dates TBA.
  • The Calendar page has been updated.
Oct 24:
  • The final exam for INLS 723 will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, from12:00noon until 4:00pm. I do NOT expect the exam will take 4 hours, but we have the room reserved from 12-4pm. The exam will start promptly at 12noon.
  • The slides from the Elmasri book can be found in a zip file on the book's website: powerpoint.zip
Oct 23:
  • Updates have been made to the calendar and assignments pages.The calendar has been updated to reflect the topics for each class for the rest of the semester.
  • The new "Current Topics Assignment II" has been posted. I will be sending you each an email with individual comments about your first current topicspresentation and several sub-topics that you can choose from for the secondcurrent topics assignment. The assignments page has an updated schedule for the presentations on Nov 13, 20, and 27.
  • The "Group Database project" has been posted. I will talk about this inclass today, but the assignment is now posted along with the due dates foreach part of it.
Sept 19:
  • Homework #1 has been posted. Note that it is due at 5:00pm onWed, Sept 27 to be submitted to the digital dropbox on Blackboard.
Sept 15:
  • Codd's 1970 CACM paper is now assigned reading and there is a link to it inthe "Readings" section of the course calendar. Be prepared to discuss thepaper in class on Sept 25.
  • Instructions on how to install and configure the Oracle client are postedin the new "DB Links" section of this course website.
Sept 12:
  • The Individual Database Assignment has been posted on the Assignments page.
Sept 6:
  • The current topics assignment has been posted on the Assignments page alongwith the dates that each person will present in-class.
Aug 19:
