Spring recess thoughts
- as we prepare for Spring Recess, we might want to reflect on where we
are. One thing to think about is our psychic health. Stress is a constant
factor in life, and can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the
situation. It is useful to know something about how stress affects us. David
Fontana in 1989 wrote an article about
how to recognize and manage stress, and introduced the
Holmes-Rahe Social Adjustment Scale. You might want to take it yourself
to see how you are doing. There are
several versions available, but all of them are essentially the same -
reminders that seemingly small things can build up and have a negative
impact on us. If we can recognize the situation, we can then prune away the
unimportant stress factors from our lives.
