1998-present. Assistant Professor of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

1994-1995. Acting Assistant Director of the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science, South Bend campus.

1990-present. Professional Storyteller performing and conducting workshops for adults and children at schools, libraries, conferences, and special events.

1990-1991. Character Voice, ERIC's Parent Outreach Project, a journal/cassette combination to encourage parents and children to read together. Bloomington, Indiana.

1988-89. Children's Specialist for the Providence Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island.
