Journals of an academic or scholary nature are one resource a large academic library like Davis can offer. There are two ways to search for articles on Zen Buddhism --either by journal or by database. Both sources are located from the home page of the Davis Library website. Keywords most successful on test searches were "Buddhism" and "Zen" (each run separately).
Below are examples of journals retrieved from keywords and subject searches mostly focused on religion, Buddhism and Asian studies. Once you locate a journal of interest go to that journal's link and search for articles by keyword. You can also search by these title names below to locate specific journals.
