SILS Fall '08 Orientation Information

Orientation for new SILS students will be held on Monday, August 18th in Manning Hall. The day will consist of talks, information sessions, workshops, discussion panels, and will, of course, include a free lunch. After orientation is complete, the SILS Alumni Association will be hosting a recption. A full timetable of the day can be found here.

SILS Alumni Reception at SAA

Please join us for a SILS alumni reception at the upcoming Society for American Archivists (SAA) conference in San Francisco. The reception will take place:

·  Thursday, August 28 from 7:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.

·  Hilton San Francisco – Golden Gate Room 5

Celebrating American Archives Month

Join us for a special event during American Archives Month that celebrates a new archives concentration; recognizes instructors, faculty and managers of archive-related field experiences; and exposes students and others interested to the various possibilities associated with archives and records management.

Several guest speakers will be on hand to share their insights about archiving and Dr. Robert Martin (Ph.D. ‘88), former director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Lillian Bradshaw Endowed Chair at Texas Woman’s University, will provide the keynote address.

The event will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in the Family Pleasants Room of the Wilson Library.

The School will host its fall commencement ceremony on December 14 at 10 a.m. in the Family Pleasants Room of the Wilson Library.
