- Abstract
-
Libraries want to provide integrated access to their digital special collections, while bringing to bear the full descriptive potential of available metadata schema. Libraries
around the world are using Millennium, Innovative's integrated library technology platform, to make this a reality. Libraries may choose to import XML metadata into the
library's online catalog from an external repository or a content management system. Others choose to build digital archival metadata within Millennium, creating metadata with
EAD or Qualified Dublin Core XML. The presentation will show how Millennium's XML Harvester and MetaData Builder can be used to expand both the scope and level of integration
offered by today's digital library, with examples from implementing libraries.
