ALISE:

The Eugene Garfield - ALISE Doctoral Dissertation Award – 2003
Doctoral students who have recently graduated in any field of study or are about to finish their dissertations are invited to submit one complete copy of a dissertation in areas dealing with substantive issues related to library and information science.
Due no later than July 23, 2003.

ALISE awards for which doctoral students may apply (but not be the result of work conducted for the doctoral degree or for which the honorarium may not be used for doctoral research) include:

The ALISE Board of Directors is funding two "Doctoral Students to ALISE" Awards for the 2003 Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
Due no later than Sept. 13, 2002

 

 

ALA (American Library Association):

Library Research Round Table:
Jesse H. Shera Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research

Library Research Round Table:
LRRT Graduate Student Forum - Each year ALA's Library Research Round Table awards several stipends to winners of their graduate student research paper competition. Announcements of this competition are posted on several discussion lists, including JESSE and the Doctoral Students in Library and Information Sciences Discussion List.

 

 

 

Other LIS-Related Scholarships, Grants and Awards:

Beta Phi Mu Scholarship - Doctoral Dissertation Scholarship
For doctoral students who have completed their course work, this scholarship offers funding to complete the degree. Scholarships will be awarded based on the usefulness of the research topic to the profession.
Due no later than March 15.

Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Grant
The Institute has four major objectives:

1. stimulate interest in using national data to address current and future research questions in institutional research, the social sciences, and education;
2. instruct Fellows in the methods of using national data to conduct analyses;
3. enhance understanding about methodological and technological issues relevant to national data collection; and
4. encourage collaborative research studies between Fellows and NCES staff to improve future data collection and analysis.
