The Red Sea
The Red Sea is an extremely salty sea which separates Saudi Arabia from Africa. The Red Sea has a one-of-a-kind barrier reef where many colorful fish and coral can be viewed. Diving is very popular in Saudi but Islamic women are not encouraged to participate in Western style bathing suits (in fact most of the stay fully veiled at the beach.)

These different varieties of coral are what make up the extensive coral reef (above.)

This butterfly fish is a pretty common sight in the red sea (though its only about an inch tall.)

These pictures show the porcupine fish, the lionfish, the angel fish, and the sea anemone.

The moray eel seems frightening but is usually pretty shy. The sting ray usually dwells on the bottom of the ocean and only stings if you step on it. Parrotfish are very common, large fish which swim near the reef.
