A picture of Rob Greetings!
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I am part of the Interactive Information Systems Lab at UNC.
Along with Diane Kelly and Jaime Arguello, we recently hosted an NSF-sponsored workshop on Task-Based Search.

My research interests are primarily in the areas of human-computer interaction, personal information management, collaborative information seeking, information sharing and syncronization, and digital information seeking behaviors and interfaces. My work is unified by an interest in how people find, refind, manage and share electronic information, and how technology can help support these tasks. This work has implications for how people interact with and manage the increasing amounts of digital information they encounter individually and in collaboration with others.

My Ph.D. is in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, where I worked with Dr. Manuel Pérez-Quiñones and was part of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction. In the summer of 2006, I moved to Chapel Hill and worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and Research Scientist with Dr. Gary Marchionini.

Recent Projects
HCI Browser The HCI Browser is a tool to help researchers conduct HCI experiments that involve doing web browsing tasks. HCI Browser ResultsSpace is a 3-year, NSF-funded project on which I co-authored the grant proposal. The project focuses on developing architectures and interfaces to support mutli-session, exploratory, and collaborative search.
HCI Browser The Relation Browser is a tool designed to help users understand relationships between items in a collection and to support exploration of an information space. HCI Browser TagSearch is an experimental web search tool that includes Delicious tags as part of the search results.
