Lyrics
Happy is the miller boy
That lives by the mill.
The mill turns around
With a free good will.

One hand in the hopper
And the other in the sack.
Lady, step forward
And the gent falls back.

Note from E.L. Simons (1952): Ford, Traditional Music of America (1940), p. 254, includes a similar text with the following note. "Form a wheel. Girls move to center. Join right hands with opposite girls. Link arms with partner and turn the wheel. Girl drops partner at last line of verse. Picks up partner ahead and wheel is continued until all come to original partners. Boys move to center. Reverse wheel and follow same procedure as for girls."
